Glimmering Chests of Belongings

A Glimmering Chest of Belongings is a special loot container awarded directly to your backpack when a creature you damaged is slain. The chest is never placed on the corpse — it appears in your pack automatically.

Each chest is named a glimmering chest of belongings and its appearance is randomised from a small set of chest graphics and hues. The chest's tier is shown on its property list as Level N in blue.

For every player on a creature's damage-credit list, the game runs this sequence on kill:

  1. Your Luck is read directly from your character (no cap is applied) and a luck scaler of 1.0 + (Luck / 1000) is computed.
  2. If your Better Loot perk is active, the luck scaler is multiplied by 3.
  3. If the slain creature is a demigod-flagged dungeon boss, the demigod payout fires (see below). The luck scaler is only used by the demigod branch — for ordinary kills, the base chest chance does not scale with Luck.
  4. The chance to receive any chest from an ordinary kill is:
  ''chance% = 20 × (HitsMax + StamMax + ManaMax) / 12000''
clamped between 0 and 100. Tougher creatures are far more likely to drop a chest.
- On success, a tier is rolled. A random value from 0–1 is generated, then shifted by ''-0.2'' if **Better Loot** is active. The highest matching tier is assigned:
Roll Tier
default Level 1
≤ 0.10 Level 2
≤ 0.04 Level 3
≤ 0.02 Level 4
≤ 0.01 Level 5
  1. The chest is added directly to your backpack.

When the slain creature is a demigod-flagged dungeon boss, you additionally receive:

  • Chest stack: (int)luckscaler × 2 chests at random tier 3, 4, or 5, capped at 10 chests total.
  • Perk Deed: one random Perk Deed (rank 1.0 or 2.0); a second is awarded on a coin flip.
  • Clothing Scroll: one guaranteed Random Artifact Clothing Scroll.
  • If Better Loot is active: one additional chest at random tier 2–5, another Perk Deed, and a 40% chance of a second Random Artifact Clothing Scroll.

The demigod payout runs in addition to the ordinary chest roll — both can fire on the same kill.

A chest is considered “boosted” when you either have Better Loot active or are inside an Instance at the time the chest is filled.

Condition Locked Trap LockLevel MaxLockLevel
Boosted (Better Loot active or inside an Instance) No None
Not boosted Yes Explosion Trap, TrapPower = level × 25, TrapLevel = level 90 140

Lockpicking, key use, Telekinesis, Remove Trap, and trap discharge all behave normally — there are no special open-time rules on these chests.

Contents are drawn from a weighted Chest Gear pool, a Chest Deco decoration pool, and the Relic Generator. Reagent quantities are rolled as Random(N), meaning the result is between 0 and N-1 — an empty stack is possible.

“Boosted” means the chest was filled while you had Better Loot active or were inside an Instance.

Level Always drops Bonus when Boosted
1 1× Chest Gear; 1× Magical Residue; 1× Enchanted Essence; 1× Relic Fragment +1× Chest Gear
2 Magical Residue Random(5); Enchanted Essence Random(5); Relic Fragment Random(5); 2× Chest Gear +1× Chest Gear; +1× Relic (from Relic Generator)
3 Magical Residue Random(10); Enchanted Essence Random(10); Relic Fragment Random(10); 2× Relics; 30% chance of a 3rd relic; 1× Chest Gear; 15% chance of a Crystal of Enhancement 3rd-relic chance raised to 60%; +1× Chest Gear (2 total); 5% chance of a Chest Deco; guaranteed Crystal of Enhancement; +10% chance of a second Crystal of Enhancement
4 Chest hue forced to 1153; Magical Residue Random(15); Enchanted Essence Random(15); Relic Fragment Random(15); 3× Relics; 1× Chest Gear; 1× Chest Deco; 2× Crystal of Enhancement Replaces the gear roll with a second Chest Deco (no extra Chest Gear)
5 Chest hue forced to 1266; Magical Residue Random(20); Enchanted Essence Random(20); Relic Fragment Random(20); 4× Relics; 1× Chest Gear; 1× Chest Deco; 3× Crystal of Enhancement +1× Relic; +3× Chest Gear; +2× Chest Deco (in place of the standard 1 of each)

Luck does not alter the chance of receiving a chest from an ordinary kill — that chance scales only with the slain creature's combined HitsMax + StamMax + ManaMax. Luck only enters the formula on demigod kills, where:

numofchests = (int)(1 + Luck/1000) × 2

capped at 10 chests. There is no cap on Luck itself.

While Better Loot is active, chest generation changes in five ways:

  1. Triples the demigod luck scaler, increasing the demigod chest count.
  2. Adds one extra tier-2–5 chest, an extra Perk Deed, and a 40% chance of a Random Artifact Clothing Scroll on demigod kills.
  3. Subtracts 0.2 from the tier roll, biasing every chest toward higher tiers.
  4. Unlocks and untraps every chest you receive.
  5. Adds the bonus tier contents listed in the loot table above.

The Auto Looter has a dedicated Glimmering Chests checkbox. When enabled, Glimmering Chests of Belongings are auto-pulled along with your other selected loot.
