Getting started
One download. The launcher installs the game client, keeps it patched and starts it with the shard's address already set.
Windows 10 or 11. About 2.7 GB of game files on first install.
The launcher installs the official Ultima Online client unchanged, apart from the shard's own custom content.
What the launcher installs
- Ultima Online client
- The official 7.0.117.1 Classic Client files with the shard's custom content applied.
- ClassicUO
- An open-source client with modern graphics support and a smoother interface.
- TazUO
- A ClassicUO fork with extra quality-of-life features such as grid containers and a built-in assistant.
- Razor Enhanced
- An optional assistant for macros and scripting. Runs with ClassicUO and the TazUO Legacy build.
Install and log in
- Run the launcher. It installs the game into a folder you choose and patches itself each time it opens. Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” the first time: click More info, then Run anyway.
- Pick a client. ClassicUO or TazUO, with or without Razor Enhanced.
- Log in. Any account name and password; the account is created on first use.

Art files
For advanced users who just want to download the art files to extract to their own UO directory
One zip with everything the shard changes: creature animations, tile and gump art, tile data, hues, multis, lights, clilocs, sounds, and the maps and statics of every facet. Every file extracts straight into the client folder. Unzip it over a complete 7.0.117.1 or newer client.
Warning: this zip is replaced every time an update is pushed. Unlike the launcher, it does not update itself: after each patch, download it again, or only the changed files when an update is offered below.
The update holds just the files the latest patch changed. Its README names the build it updates: use it only if the README-ArtFiles.txt in your client folder shows that date, and otherwise download the whole zip.
